Forehead

The parallel lines across the forehead to the movement of the large muscle of the forehead, resulting in horizontal lines.

Although forehead lines can be improved with different types of treatment care must be taken to avoid dropping of the eyebrows, as it is the same muscle that holds the eyebrows up. If this happens the eyebrows feel heavy and look lower, as the frontalis muscle which usually lifts the eyebrows are weakened. Lines in this area can be improved with use of good skin care, as when the skin is dryer it makes the lines more pronounced.
How do the forehead muscles work?
The forehead muscles act to lift up the eyebrows. Therefore the lines of the forehead occur perpendicular to the muscle direction. This muscle lifts the forehead upwards. By doing so, it can create fine lines perpendicular to its mode of action, i.e. horizontal lines across the forehead.
The frontalis can also be used to elevate the eyebrows. Application of treatment to the muscles can result in softening the lines. It may also alter the opposing muscles and result in a lift.

As per TGA restrictions from the 1 June 2024, we are unfortunately unable to provide further education on specifics of treatment. Further detail can be provided during the consultation at which time a treatment plan can be developed.
Consultation
Your clinician will discuss the pros and cons of any treatment and which may be more suited for you. Although some treatments can have a more immediate but temporary effect, there are other treatments aimed at the different layers of the skin.
Treatment process
Treatments can be delivered in different forms including:

-
mesotreatment
-
injection of medicines
-
skin peels
-
use of medical devices to target specific areas
-
advice on specific moisturisers and additives
The approach will depend on the individual. The results may vary between individuals.
Potential side effects
These will be discussed at the time of your consultation. They largely depend on the nature of the treatment. The potential side effects are documented on the consent form and can be discussed further at the time of your consultation.
