Nasolabial Folds

There are different approaches to reducing the nasolabial fold. Although nasolabial folds can make a face look aged, the absence of a nasolabial fold creates an “Alien” like appearance or avatar appearance. The aim is to achieve a balance between these .
Nasolabial folds become more predominant with the downward moving of the face from deflation of the cheeks and fat pads. As a result of deflation of some of the deeper fat pads in the face which sit close to the bone, the more superficial fat pads which sit near the nasolabial fold move downwards, which creates the fold like appearance in this area.
Consultation
Your cosmetic practitioner assesses your nasolabial folds and look whether they are related to downward movement of your upper fat pads or whether it is localised to the nasolabial fold.
Treatment Preparation
The treated area will be sterilised this area, and wipe off any make up in this area first.
It may be useful to bring some mineral makeup with you if you need to go somewhere after the treatment.

Treatment Process
Treatment of these areas may be direct or indirect.

Indirect aims to address the reasons why the nasolabial folds have become more pronounced and address the sagging skin and descent of some of the superficial fat pads.

Direct is when the nasolabial folds are directly addressed. This may not always be an option and if used on the incorrect patient can lead to worsening or exaggerated folds.

Nasolabial folds start to develop after the age of 30 and become worse through the following decades. However there are varying grades of nasolabial folds and each one requires different types of treatments.
