The platysma muscle starts over the clavicle and extends up the neck and into the jaw. As we age the platysma muscle may pull down on the jaw line. There are treatments which can assist in preventing the pulling from the platysma muscles.

Other treatments may specifically address the skin in this area, either by tightening it, or attempting to help skin texture by producing more collagen.

As the skin becomes looser, the submental fat pad under the chin can become more pronounced and also exaggerated in the presence of loose skin. Treatments can be specifically to address the fat pad. This type of treatment has also been shown to enhance tightening of the skin as well as reduction of the fat pad.

This is not an instant process and best addressed in stages to achieve your desired outcome. Slow and steady wins the race!! Different options of treatment can be discussed in a consultation with development of a treatment plan.
