Aging - Is it really so bad?

Updated: Mar 14

Can we stop talking about Anti Aging. Lets talk about Aging well!

So the thing about aging is ……..no matter what we try and do... it’s happening.  Is that so bad?

Personally I don’t believe in anti aging, we cant go backwards no matter how hard we try.  We should stop trying to be a different age and accept and enjoy every year, as each year of our life brings a gift.

The point about aesthetics is not anti aging, it's being the best version of your self.

Take for example Lindsay Lohan. lets look at age 17 and now at age 37.

No prizes for which one looks better.

Understanding Aging

She looks older and you could say she looks 37, but does she look better than she was at 17… ?Yes.

Does she look better and more confident at 37…. Yes.  She's more polished.

She's lost some of the fat in her face which is a typical sign of aging, as it descends in a Y shape but she has elongated her face which although makes it thinner it makes it more proportional not younger.

She has aged but is the best version of her self.

So what exactly does making the best version of yourself mean?

Its making the most of life.  Making the most of every year and making it count.

Making the most of every day and being the best version of yourself just means that you re taking care of your physical self just as you d be taking care of your spiritual self.

Theres lot of ways to look into your spiritual self such as:

·       Prayer

·       Yoga

·       Meditation

·       Reading and learning

. Sleep Quality

Just being able to be with yourself.

Taking care of your internal body and health includes:

·       Nutrition

·       Supplements - like Magnesium, CoQ10, Zinc and Vitamins

·       Exercise

·       Taking regular medical check ups and any treatment

Taking care of your appearance. This is where we seem to be doing it wrong.

  • Your skin holds your body.  The most important thing is to take care of your skin.

    • This includes nutrition, supplements, and topical treatment be it cosmeceuticals, botox, exosomes, hyaluronic acid.

  • Really we should not be putting volume where it never was.

    • That’s recreation not acceptance.

  • For example your lips were made to hold a certain volume as were your cheeks.

    • Some people still insist in putting in double or triple the volume, which your skin was not made for.  It stretches the skin past its usual elastic point and can lead to the appearance of more open pores.

    • People try to do this to turn back time, but it ends up aging them or they look completely different.

  • and on that topic lets look at example 2:

The Beauty of Embracing Aging.

It does nt mean that you sit back and surrender.

Just make the most of every day and every year.

That may mean feeling good about how you look even though you are aging.  That’s really what aesthetics is about.  It’s not anti aging, its aging well.

Self-Care and Self-Love

Aside from looking after the spiritual and physical health, we all try and look after our skin. Moisturisers keep our skin replenished as our skin dehydrates with age. There are other tools we can use without changing the way you look that aim at improving skin texture. By the look of it, Lindsay Lohan has taken advantage of them all.

Beauty Industry Shift

  • We are so led in our modern age by large companies and bigpharma is no exception. Much of our discussion is influences by advertising. The never ending images on turning back time. In reality, the images are nt turning back time, but being manipulated to look like it based on outdated beauty standards whilst neglecting diversity of ethnicities. There is nothing that can turn back time.

  • The focus needs to change in our society. we need to stop obsessing about our nasolabial folds, unless we want to look like a baby or avatar both of which dont ihave any .

  • we need to stop injecting endless filler into our lips. they end up taking a movement of their own and look disconnected from the rest of the face.

  • Before all the inventions of injectables and machines, we had some classical beauties such as, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn and Bridgette Bardot, all of whom aged well and continued to emanate an etheral elegance.

We need to celebrate women as we get older. Menopause has been though of an ugly word for so long. But the reality is that does not have to be ugly. Were nt we all waiting for our periods to stop. I for one am so happy to have more energy and less fluctuation in moods. Does nt mean i dont experience some of the downsides to menopause such as hot flushes and weight gain. But trying to live my best life means I take HRT to help.

Embrace your age

  • Currently fashion and beauty industry standards are shifted to embrace heterogenous beauty enhancing individual and unique features... As we do at BELLEAGE.

  • So i implore you to start a new trend and embrace your age.

  • Yes we are older, but we are wiser, more polished, less anxious, more educated, and have so many more tools than we did when we were younger to be able to age well. Celebrate beauty and wellness at every age.
